7-20-08
Wilma is doing better & better, I should not tell this but I will (not smart). Saturday 7-19-08, while I went to help on a wreck (more about it later) Wilma was to be at the visitor center at 1:00, and I was not back (our pick-up was here) so what does she do. WILMA TAKES A ½ MILE HIKE ON HER CRUTCHES. The trail is not flat, part of the way she walked sideways, to get through. Yes she is doing great. I have not made the hike yet.
Tank had a mishap this week he was jumping off the couch and caught his nail in a chair and it pulled off. I mean Wilma picked the nail up off the floor. It bleed some and we put a sock on it with some cream. He is doing much better.
The wildflower festival is over today, but the flower are great, everyday some new ones bloom. We only had two open sites in the campground last night.
Now to the wreck it was between a Harley Davidson & a mini van, it happened on an S curve at the top of a hill in Cedar Brakes. We heard the call on our radio & Ted [a friend of our(22 year old from New Mexico) working here for the summer for college credit] went to see if we could help. We were able to help with traffic. Ron & Paula (the other camp host) were already there. I was able to let Paula use my radio (as Ron & Paula could not see each other & were trying to control the traffic). Ted & I helped where we were needed to keep the traffic moving. After the event was over Mat (out Chief Ranger) had a meeting with all involved. It was to see what went well & where we could improve. He thought we did well, we should have brought some more radios & use a difference channel. We will be getting some more safety vests & signs to use. Wilma & I will be carrying safety vests in our truck. We will also answer any call where traffic safety is involved or where we might be of help. A girl was driving the HD she was carried to the hospital, they are having a motorcycle rally at Brian Head (about 600 came). We also had a wreck where only one was involved, it was also a HD.
