Hawaii #2

-19-2007
Wilma went to work this AM after getting me started out and on my way to take a local tour. Hey, someone has to do the hard stuff and I am just that man. We both had a continental breakfast; she made sure I was well taken care of.
I will go on with my day as I am not sure about hers. The USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL was first; if you ever get a chance to see this memorial it is well worth your time; second was the BATTLESHIP MISSOURI MEMORIAL. I did not take very many pictures today, but have a few and will post them later, (will wait till back home I may need to print the instruction book).
The day gave me time to think which is a good thing for all of us to do from time to time. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, they woke up a sleeping giant. There was no republican or democrat, we were all just American, we came together to do what had to be done. The young men filled the recruiting lines and our women went to work building war machines. No one said it was an inside job; we were all American, we also knew that if our way of life was to go on we must be willing to die for it.
Everyone should go visit a war memorial from time to time, we do not need to, we can not afford to, forget the price so many have paid so we can have what we have. We are losing our fear of God and replacing it with the fear of hurting someone’s feelings. We do not want to stand up for what is right, nor do we want to die for what is right. I believe when we as a nation or a people get to the point we will not die for our freedom we will lose it. I hope I never have kids that must die for what is right, or that I must die for what is right. But if the time comes and that is what is called for me or my kids to do, by the grace of God I hope we can do it with honor. Sorry for the soap box, no I am not; it needed to be said. Remember if life is a book and you do not travel you only read one page. Pictures will come later

Hawaii

We left San Angelo Texas at 11:40 on Monday 7-15-2007 and were in Honolulu Oahu at 8:40 on 7-15-2007. Not a long flight till you takes in consideration the time difference then it is 14 travel hours. Wilma & I had a good, but long flight. We had a lot of cloud cover, never saw the water after we left LA, but the clouds were great to look down upon.

The Resort (Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa) is wonderful, a little rich for my billfold, but then Wilma is paying for it (with her service to the credit union). This is a working trip.

Tuesday we got some work done in the AM then went for a tour of the island of Oahu. The tour lasted about four hours. After going up the island we went to the other side (the windward side) and crossed over the mountain back to where we started. We stopped at about six areas; the guide also told us about Hawaii and some of its history. Most of the plants here were brought here. As you know there are no snakes or large animals, bear, lions, or anything that will eat you. Sharks do not count as they are not on the island; they have about three shark attacks a year. In West Texas we have not had a shark attack in I do not know when, maybe a snake bite or two. It goes to show you that ever place have its drawbacks. Also there are few flies here and the wind keeps the mosquitoes at bay. A normal home will run you about a million, the very nice ones 20 to 25 mullions and up. We saw some areas where the homes were only $200,000.00. The main industry here is tourist.

We took a lot of pictures my not get them all posted at this time, but will post more later.
