8-18-08 Ted & Hummingbirds

8-18-08 Ted & Hummingbirds
It is raining, the temp outside is 57, Wilma & Tank are asleep, a good time to write. Wilma, Tank & I were going to take the 4-wheeler out for the first time today, but as I said it is raining
We put out a feeder for the Hummingbirds Friday & we have been visited by a lot of birds, I have a picture of four at one time. As you know the Hummers are very protected of their space, which makes for a lot of fun to watch. We did have one that flew into the window (Wilma had a vase of red flowers on the table), it sat on the railing for a while then flew off.
We run into Ted when we first got here for training. He was in maintenance therefore he & I worked a lot together in the beginning, Ted was good company for me while Wilma was in the hospital. Working side by side we talked quite a bit, he told me of his dreams of what he would like to do after finishing college, his major is civil engineering. I have no doubt he can fulfill his dreams as long as he keep them & works hard & does the steps one at a time to get there. We also played 42, dominoes, & chess. Ted came over to the trailer some. Wilma fixed pancakes for us (Ted, Wilma & I) a few times. When Ted left he brought over what grocery's he was not going to use. Before he left he brought over his girlfriend (Melonie) & his dad, we were able to watch the Cowboys & Broncos play (at Brian Head). One of the things that is nice about what we did (volunteering) is you make good friends which should last a lifetime, (no ones has to many friends).
I am a great believer in the fact when your dreams die, a large part of you die, so never let your dreams die, hang on to them, even thou they may look impossible, you can never tell. A man without a dream is a man without hope & a man without hope is a dead man.

8-20-08 A Great Day

8-20-08 A great day
Beautiful morning, sun shining, it is 53 out side ( if you are in the sunshine it is warm in the shade you need a coat), low last nite was 47 hi yesterday was 66, ( the weather is getting cooler we should have snow in around 30 days.
Wilma is getting better & better, Tank's nail is good as new. I was able to jog some, a great day. We had a young couple come to our trailer wanted to know what to do, their young boy had fell off the picnic table and hid his head on a rock, ( it had bled some). We told then Cedar City was only 30 minute away and they had a good hospital, (that is where Wilma went), we also told them we had a first aid kit. They went to Cedar City and were back by 9:30. The boy was ok. This morning a lady came by and had left her sugar at home and needed some for coffee (we gave her some sugar and told her not to pay us back).
What a dinner we had last nite. While in Cedar City last Thursday we went to the thrift store and bought a grill (Hamilton Beach) for $12.00 and a bread maker (Hitachi) for $10.00, (they were used, but look as if they had never been used). We also had some zucchini which was given to us by one of the employee here. We put onion with the squash along with butter, (it was good) and grilled a chicken breast on the $12.00 grill. What a supper. Wilma is going to make some bread soon, I can hardly wait.

Time with Laddie & Lake

8-12-08
Well great news ,Wilma is doing great, people cannot believe how fast she is recovering and getting back to normal. Now she has a way to go, but she has come a long way. Tank's nail has grown out past the quick, and we are all so happy. We are sad that Laddie & Lake (my brother and his wife from east of Dallas) have left, but we had a great time while they were here. We did a lot of thing while they were here & I took some pictures some I will post now.
We would like to thank Laddie & Lake for using their car for all our running around, we went somewhere each day, now we still did our work, but you can schedule most of it to do when it is convenient. I am sure I did not get all the pictures I will wish I had taken, but that is my fault. Now Lake took a lot more than I did & she will tweak them until they look great ,she will also delete the ones that are not good. She does a lot better job than I do, how do you say patience.
Lake told me I need to do a lot more posting, like what we do each day. Laddie will be sending us an antenna & booster for our cell phone and air card, we hope we will then be able to post from the campground & also talk from here, I hope it works out. Not having TV is not really to bad, but not being able to talk to love ones and get on line is bad.
I will be writing a summary of our experience here after we leave.
